Steer the glowing snake, eat the dots and grow without crashing.

About this game

Neon Snake is the classic snake game with a glowing makeover. Steer your snake around the board, eat the red dots to grow longer and score points, and try not to crash into the walls or your own tail. The snake gets a little faster as you eat, so every extra dot is harder to earn than the last.

How to play

  1. The snake starts moving as soon as you press Play, so be ready. On a computer, steer with the arrow keys, W A S D or Z Q S D.
  2. On a phone, swipe anywhere in the game area or use the four arrow buttons under the board.
  3. Eat the glowing red dot. Your snake grows by one segment and you score points.
  4. The snake moves faster as you eat more.
  5. Hitting a wall or any part of your own body ends the game.
  6. Fill the whole board to win a perfect game.

Tips

  • Plan two moves ahead. You can queue two quick turns, which is handy for tight U-turns.
  • Keep your snake near the edges early on and leave the middle free.
  • Make long, slow loops instead of tight spirals, so you never trap yourself.
  • Do not chase a dot straight into a dead end. Check there is a way out first.
  • You cannot reverse straight into yourself, so use a two-step turn to change direction.

FAQ

Is Neon Snake free?

Yes. Neon Snake is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.

How do I control the snake on a phone?

Swipe in the direction you want to go, anywhere in the game area, or tap the arrow buttons under the board. The snake starts on the left side of the board, so you have about two seconds before the first wall.
